History of Maqintosh whisky
The history of Maqintosh whisky dates back to the early 1900s when the Maqintosh family started producing whisky in India. The family-owned a distillery in Shimla, which was known for producing high-quality whisky. However, the distillery was forced to close during India’s independence movement, and the family was forced to leave the country.
In 2004, Radico Khaitan, one of India’s largest distilleries, acquired the rights to the Maqintosh brand and started producing the whisky again. The brand is named after its founder, Edward Dyer Maqintosh, and the whisky is made using a blend of Indian grain spirits and imported Scotch whisky.
